Rat Queens, Vol. 4: High Fantasies by Kurtis J. Wiebe

3.0

After the Volume 3 cliffhanger I was ready to dive back into the story, only to find that instead we got a sort of "soft reboot" of the franchise. So that means basically ignoring how we got back to fun shenanigans with a united group of Queens, this time with the addition of Braga, who's great. Violet's twin, Barrie, is also back and trying to spark some good-natured competition with his own group of adventurers. The adventures in this arc are really fun and entertaining, even though I felt a bit cheated to miss the conclusion to the previous story.

Owen Gieni's art is interesting. His close-ups felt more realistic than the previous artists' but at times the art felt more cartoony, and some of the page layouts were a bit confusing. In the last chapter he shows his range of style with a more soft, almost water-colour or coloured pencil style for visions experienced by the characters.
