Ne'er Duke Well by Alexandra Vasti
5.0
Well Alexandra Vasti just put herself on my auto read list!
First of all whoever did her cover is fabulous! I adore everything about it and it truly represents the vibe of this story.
There are some historical romance authors out there who are blending feminism and the genre so beautifully and seamlessly. Vasti has cemented herself up there with them and is on par with Sarah Maclean for me!
We have a delightful FMC out there ensuring women have the education and tools they need to make it through a world run by men. Then you have a MMC who is an activist in his own right and just an absolute cinnamon roll of a man. Seriously Peter is devine!! Their chemistry is so good, the pacing of the story was so good for me. I was worried about 55% in wondering if there was going to be some dreaded 3rd act issues (which okay of course there was), but I was so happy with how it all played out. Not just how it ended up, but how it all unfolded was perfect and unexpected considering the genre!
To top it off all of the books she mentions in this story are actually real historical books and I’ve literally been taking notes so I can dig them up and read them!!
I absolutely hope that this becomes a series because there are so many side characters that need stories for! Georgie, Lydia, etc. and oh and I want Thomasin and Judith’s story ASAP!! Also the kids Lu and Freddie need more pages!! I need to know how they grow up and how Lu gets on with her fencing lessons and if she ever gets boxing lessons!!
Anyways read this book you won’t regret it!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced copy.
