B and Jamie share a profound, all-encompassing friendship. They have always been the best of friends, but anything more seems fraught with missed opportunities, mistakes, and choices. Their decisions often pull them apart, and after years of distance, will everything finally align?
This book includes two of my least favourite tropes—cheating and miscommunication—yet I found myself eagerly consuming every word, clamouring for more. The story was both heartbreaking and beautiful. We have two people who have loved each other from the moment they met. Jamie and B took me on an emotional ride and left me shattered, but experiencing Jamie’s POV at the end helped me understand so much more.
B and Jamie’s story was a chaotic read—messy, toxic, devastating, but also beautiful. I thought the miscommunication and misunderstandings resonated with who they were and where they were in their lives. We witnessed them grow into their true selves, even as they frustrated me so often!
Though this book is lengthy, it is fast-paced, covering over ten years of their lives. There are some time jumps, but they are logical and well executed. The author’s writing is exquisite and evokes a multitude of emotions. She managed to break my heart repeatedly.
This book may not resonate with everyone since they are quite toxic to each other, yet they keep returning to one another. They fit so perfectly into each other’s lives while denying their destined connection. Even when I disliked them, I couldn’t stop loving them and cheering for their happiness.
I am glad these two finally found happiness, and loved the chance to read this story. Though it’s not in my usual wheelhouse, this is a book I savoured. I loved watching this love story unfold and witnessing their relationship come to life.
