I really went into this book hoping I would like it and now I worry I set my expectations too high. I have heard really great things about it and I figured that it would be right up my ally, but I struggled with this one. I don't know if it is the translation or just the overall writing, but the characters feel so close to being real people, but are presented on the page as something that feels 2D. I can see the emotion of the situation, but not the emotion of the characters. It felt sort of like when someone tells you that a story is sad, instead of just telling you the story and letting you choose to be sad about it. This book just wasn't for me.
