To Love Jason Thorn by Ella Maise
3.0
TO LOVE JASON THORNE was the sweet and sexy read that I was looking for. Olive had a crush on her brother's best friend, Jason, from the time she was 6. But at 13, he moved away suddenly after a family tragedy. But their paths cross again after both of them find success in Hollywood. He's a intentionally known actor, whose career has been hit with some recent scandals due to his romantic trysts. She's a English major whose self-published romance novel based on her first love soared to the top of the bestseller's list, attracting Hollywood studio execs. Want to take a gander at who Hollywood bigwigs want to cast as the leading man?
While Olive and Jason's romance started manufactured publicity stunt, it quickly grew into something real. While we're on the subject of the romance, the steamy scenes were quite well done. They were smoking hot. It's safe to say that neither Jason nor Olive are shy in the bedroom.
I loved seeing them reconnect and slowly get to know the people they grew into. Jason was the kind of hero I love. He quickly realized that Olive was the kind of girl you marry and he didn't play games with her emotions. It was sweet the how protective he was of shy Olive when the press got wind of their relationship. I loved seeing the protective side of this guy come out.
This book is a good summer comfort read (something I think we all need with what's going on in the US and internationally). This book didn't really have a solid conflict or obstacle for the couple to overcome, other than for both of them to admit their feelings. There was an attempt at the end to create the perception of an obstacle, but it was introduced and dealt with quite quickly.
If you're looking for a "brother's best friend, famous hero" type of romance with low angst, this will be a good option for you. This book didn't feel particularly fresh or break new literary grounds, but it made me happy.
