Holy smokes I loooved this book. It focuses around Avery who went from living in a car to inheriting billions for a complete stranger the very next day. The money was left by Mr. Hawthorne who didn't want his descendents to have financial wealth and power, so instead he gave it to Avery, who then has to solve a bunch of riddles that were left behind to find out WHY HER? It was a page turner with fantastic world building. One of those books I wish I could reread for the first time again. It was fun walking alongside Avery as she explored Hawthorne House and its grounds, got to know the four descendents (who are all extremely attractive boys/men so of course she has to get involved there *sigh* quick burn romance not great but it also didn't take up too many words of the book so let's move on...), dealt with sudden fame, and tried to guess why she was left the money as the clues came up. Oh, also, she has to love in a mansion with Mr Hawthorne's decendents who are all jealous of her *dun dun duuuuun*. Yeah, like I said, fun book!
I devoured this in two days and when I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. Fully recommend for lovers of books which have game and competition elements in it.
triggers: emotionally abusive side character, death (Mr Hawthorn passed away and a past character dies [not a spoiler dw])
