Fireblood by Elly Blake
5.0
I received a free copy of this book through NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Oh lord, this book. This book was amazing. I read Frostblood a couple of months ago and enjoyed it but found it missing a few things. Those things were found in Fireblood and I'm so happy to have gotten the chance to read this book early. Though it's also going to drive me crazy waiting for people to fall in love with Kai *sighs*.
Anyway Fireblood continues a little way into Arcus' reign. A visitor appears in court and convinces Ruby to return with him to Sudesia. She agrees in the hope of finding something to destroy the Frost Minax. But in Sudesia she winds up mixed up in courtly intrigue and finds comfort in Kai.
What I Liked
-Kai
-The Fireblood trials
-Father Thistle
-Jaro
-Kai
-More diversity
-The courtly intrigue
-The fire magic
-Ruby and Kai
-No, seriously, Kai.
-The visions/flashbacks
-The mythos
Can you tell I love Kai?
What I Didn't Like
-Arcus (I wasn't completely sold on him in book 1 though I liked him more by the end. Now I just really don't care most of the time and the rest he annoys me)
-Some of the plot twists were a little predictable but it really doesn't detract from how good the book is.
I absolutely adored this book so I'd urge new readers to go pick up book 1 so you can move on to this beauty. Even if you read book 1 and weren't really a fan, read Fireblood. I liked the first book but this one was just so much better. I'm going to be squealing about it for weeks.
