Troop of Shadows by Nicki Huntsman Smith

There was something different about this book... Oh yes, it was good! A real breath of fresh air in the putrid and rancid environment that is the post-apocalyptic genre. Follow the trials and tribulations of several sets of characters navigating the demise of civilization. Watch as a confluence of survivors converges on a small town in Kansas. Is the convergence serendipitous, or is it preordained? Does fate have a hand in guiding this group of survivors? How are they connected?

Wherever there is good, we all know there is evil, and it's in a frantic pursuit. The stage has been set for book two, I should imagine.

A great book, well written. I was totally immersed and engrossed in the narrative. It almost felt as if I was travelling with them. A compelling and enthralling story, interesting, entertaining, and suspenseful. Well-rounded characters display various traits and disciplines, flaws, and motivations - a real smorgasbord of characterizations. The pacing is excellent, with no lulls or dull spots in the storytelling. It's a continuous engorging and devouring of page after page.

I have no qualms whatsoever in recommending this book. and I'm chomping at the bit to read the next one.
