The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

3.0

A tragic tale of a pure hearted man, who has spent his life chasing his dream. Stuck in the past, having illusions of how life could be, Gatsby never lived in the moment. Throwing lavish parties to match the ideals of the society while concealing his fervent dream of having a life with Daisy, this man spent too much time and energy on a single notion.

The plot is very straightforward, none of the characters are fleshed out besides Gatsby, so it didn't matter what happened to them. But
Spoiler Gatsby's tragic death
coupled with the fact that the Buchanans were left unscathed (especially Daisy) got me mad. But I guess that's the point of it, that you are loved for your wealth.

While it was fun to read, the excessive use of metaphors, the not-so-great characters, the thread bare plot are the reasons for me giving this book a 3 star.
