Fourth Comings by Megan McCafferty

2.0

I honestly don't know why I keep reading these - I've never been impressed by them. I want to be, but never have been.

The format of the book was as a notebook written by Jessica to Marcus. However, she narrated events in explicit detail that Marcus was there for; who does that? It was a bit awkward in context. Also, her writing is SO unbelievably pretentious. She doesn't talk like that anywhere in the book, but yet when she writes she uses obscure words. It just didn't fit for me.

This book was a bit better than others since she's older and dealing with bigger life issues than high school. I found her hard to relate to, though, and felt pretty ambivalent toward her. I didn't dislike her, but I wouldn't say I particularly liked her, either.

Overall, very meh. Think I'm going to go ahead and delete the 5th book and read the reviews for spoilers.

Edited to add: So I went to read reviews to spoil the 5th book, but the reviews consistently say it's the best out of the whole series. What to do? I suppose I'll pick the last one up, but I'm less then enthused to do so. Hm.
