I enjoyed this much more than his short stories collection.Mr Brautigan had a certain cadence to his writing that carries the reader along and comforts you. There's a bit a Springsteen feel to his language, descriptions and subjects as well and despite the fact that you know the story may not the well you are compelled to carry on to see it through.

Yes, oddly comforting feels an appropo description. Is hard to read this book without thinking of the authors life and continually reflect on where he ended up though there is little value since there is so much that makes up a life.
