City of Lies and Legends by Kayla Edwards
fast-paced
5.0
I don’t even know where to begin with this book. Kayla Edwards yet again has created a masterpiece. This book felt like a breath of fresh air, while we’re getting mostly the same characters were also getting new locations, a TON of answers, and nothing felt repetitive. City of Gods and Monsters is my #1 favorite book of all time, and I think City of Lies and Legends might take its place…
Obviously we’re all worried about Loren & Darien with how City of Souls and Sinners ended, and how much of them were actually going to get. But with the new characters Roman and Shay as well as getting different POVs from the other Devils and Dallas etc you don’t mind that Loren and Darien aren’t on every single page.
I really loved that we got to see more of Jack and Ivy! And that Jack got a little redemption arc because in the first two books he’s just kind of a tool.
Not once did I guess the twists in this book (per usual). And the humor! So much stuff is happening and somehow Kayla still was able to make the characters sassy and funny (Looking at you Malakai and Travis). Even the familiars were cracking me up AND we get even more of them.I was also happy that in Loren’s POV she still had Singer with her 🖤
I really loved Roman’s character and how he’s similar to Darien but still his own person and different! No one is a carbon copy of anyone else and I think that just adds to the amazing writing.
This book is full of jaw dropping moments, tears, laughter, and will keep you on the edge of your seat. This book made me fall in love with every character even more and I’m so excited for the rest of the series 🖤
