Before Midnight: A Retelling of "cinderella" by Cameron Dokey

3.0

Here is a rather well written retelling of the classic "Cinderella". It's magical, fantastical, and all too peaceful.

I will admit, Cameron Dokey has a gift with words and storytelling. She weaves a story interesting enough to be its own while not straying to far from the original.

The only problem I had with this one is the fact that Cendrillon falls in love with the twin of her childhood friend on first sight. I mean..really!? They are identical twins, so what's the likelihood she can like one but not the other?
I understand this is suppose to be due to the magic of "true love" but seriously, that may be a bit too much.

Also, there's no evil, wicked stepmother. Only one of the stepsisters are "evil" (but she ends up being rather nice in the end).

So if you're into good endings, and a rather clean version of Cinderella, you'll enjoy this.
