Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman

5.0

Shusterman has done it again for me. He has created a futuristic world that so dark and twisted that I hope we never reach that point.

The world building mixed with the intricacy of governmental roles he created just left me in awe.

I could and probably will sing a million praises for this series but I do want to point out the one thing I just didn’t buy throughout the entirety of the trilogy. The romance.

That I just didn’t get. I mean I got some of relationships. But Rowan and Citra…. for me it was an unnecessary storyline. Now even though it seemed to of wormed it way in once in awhile it really didn’t detract from the storyline either. It didn’t offer anything either though.

I found the over all plot twist unique and even more unnerving then the Scythe themselves. Having the job of Gleaning, man how did Shusterman even come up with that.

Overall I’d say read it.  Read it. I think if your a fan of utopia/dystopian, sci-fi and a dark undertones then read it. I’m looking forward to Gleaning which is short stories, book 3.5.
