Spoiler warning….do NOT read the acknowledgements before the book.

I loved, loved, loved this. Strong all the way through. Loved the characters. Love the growth. Love the message. I expect I’ll reread it.

The reviews talking about tone deafness of racism in book are definitely on target. On retrospect, that would lower my rating, but damn, did I relate to being boxed in by religion.  I grew up very much in a mainstream church but have enough trauma from religion that this resonated with me more than problems with the writing.  I still will probably reread it!
