The Book of Disquiet: The Complete Edition by Fernando Pessoa

3.0

I read this in a way this book should not be read, front to back, as a novel. ⁣

It’s complicated. It’s a sort of “autobiography” or “diary” but written through other characters that Pessoa created of/within himself. ⁣

The book is described as “a unique modern classic containing exquisitely melancholy observations and aphorisms that ruminate upon the eternal questions.”⁣

It’s…a lot. parts of its resonated and I was like oh, people really stay the same (criticisms of religion, society, feelings of doom, etc). My man’s like talking about daydreaming and living an internal world. ⁣

This read slow and it deserved to be read slower. I regret nothing. This is not for everybody.⁣
