There were interesting themes such as racism, black fishing, code-switching, and biphobia. I liked the casual Queer representation. I found the discussion around compartmentalization and code-switching interesting and relatable as an African woman who attended a French university. The love interests were really sweet, and I liked that the romances didn’t overtake the main plot. I enjoyed the family dynamics and loved seeing Iyanu and Kitan reconnect.

I loved the narrator, she switched between accents whether the Iyanu and Kitan were with other Nigerian characters or around their friends at school.

The investigation was a bit too slow. The distribution of the photos and the investigation’s resolution happened at a good pace, but the investigation itself dragged. I think that the characters jumped to accusing Iyanu too quickly. Why would she use her photos, and how would she know such specific secrets? Though I enjoyed Kitan’s character because of the themes we get to explore through her, thought she would be a more active participant in the investigation, so she felt removed from the main plot.
