It took me a few chapters to really get into the groove with this book because the author definitely has a bit of a different writing style than I have come to expect in romcoms, but once I got in, I was hooked.
I really like both MCs. Dani was everything I could have hoped for, but less Meghan Markle and more Rihanna. As someone who loves them both with equal passion, this was a welcome addition!! Jay (I'm calling him that because I hate the name Jameson) was so adorable in all of his British-ness, and I loved how the author quickly pivoted on the enemies-to-lovers angle that she originally gave us and got right down to business.
Forced proximity is a great trope, and this one was well-executed. While I adored all the spicy scenes (and how wonderfully well-written and true to real sex, which is something you don't really find in romances), I could have used a tiiiiiiiinyyyyy bit more detail on their actual chemistry outside the bedroom.
I liked that the "third act breakup" was realistic and not just for added drama. Anyone reading this book knew that once the family found out, it wouldn't be good, and the author utilized it properly to not only strengthen the characters but their relationship as well. I can't wait to see Louisa as part of Dani's team in book two and I am watching Professor Thor and Nyla verrrryyyyyy carefully...
I immediately preordered the sequel as soon as I read the last page!
