A dark and atmospheric story of a mother and daughter and the tangled secrets that haunt their past and present. This book is told in two timelines, “back then” told from the mother’s perspective, and “right now” told from the daughter’s POV. The language is poetic and yet it is not overly flowery. I never felt very connected to the characters but they all felt well fleshed out and I understood their motivations. Throughout he book, Ivy and her mom have to reconcile the rift that has grown between them. It is very much a dark story of witchcraft and how the mistakes of the past can come back to haunt future generations. If you like dark and mysterious stories that feature witchcraft in a modern setting, this book is for you.
