Circe by Madeline Miller

4.0

For some reason, this book was very different from what I expected. In a way, it was much more human than I expected, even while the story was about godhood and famous figures from mythology.
I really found myself and current struggles in my personal life in Circe's experiences. As another reviewer put it, this story is all about her finding herself, but also changing her views and beliefs about herself and others along the way. Stories like this make me realise that humans really are alike, no matter the world or time we live in. Humanity is universal to each and every one of us.
The writing was gorgeous, as I expected of Madeline Miller. I can't explain why her writing touches me as much as it does.
