This book absolutely blew me away. Usually when a book has a lot of characters and several points of view I find myself having to keep double-checking who people are, or just not being that interested in some of the POVs/characters. In The Golem and the Jinni, Helene Wecker manages a cast of characters who all feel like real people--I was always eager to learn more about each character and how they would come together, without the feeling I sometimes get that the book is just biding its time until all the threads come together (if that makes any sense). I also loved the relationships in this book; obviously the golem and the jinni are #1 on that list, but there were so many smaller connections that made me smile and laugh. Like the Grinch, my heart grew several sizes. ;) I can't wait to see where the next book takes us, and am fervently hoping it actually does come out next year!
