This was everything I loved about being a reader combined into a nice cozy YA contemporary. I loved the setting of an indie bookstore versus a mainstream bookstore. I thought Madeline and Jasper were such a duo—the prank war enemies to lovers vibe was truly immaculate. I also enjoyed that Zelda, one of the secondary characters was Jewish! It was great to see the inner workings of a bookstore and how that translated to Madeline's family dynamics. All the nicknames and jokes and banter was exciting and enjoyable. Madeline was tough and stubborn at times, but I was glad to see her fight for herself and the bookstore. The fandom from the fictional book within a fictional book was so cool and it felt very meta in a fun way. Overall, I thought this was an adorable story and I really enjoyed reading it.
