All three audiobook narrators did a great job. It’s the first co-authored novel I’ve read (I think) and it felt very cohesive. I can’t attest to the Muslim rep, but I liked that the book mentioned how Tiwa’s family is less regarded by some people because they’re Black Muslims and I loved the sense of community when they rallied to save the Islamic Center. Seeing Tiwa, and especially Said develop as characters and become friends again was heartwarming but I felt the friendship more than the romance. I was a little disappointed because I expected the queer rep to involve one of the MCs (like both authors’ previous works), but it involves an important side character! The reason why they’re not friends anymore is a little convoluted, I think that it would’ve been hashed way before we got to the book’s plot if they talked but alas we wouldn’t have a book if it was the case. Overall, a really sweet YA romcom!
