Diavola by Jennifer Marie Thorne

dark emotional tense fast-paced

4.0

I don't usually love a Gothic horror, but I found myself captivated by this novel. It also has a lot of ties to Italian folklore, traditions, and witchcraft, and I think those elements are what really drew me in.

Diavola is a creepy take on a haunted house ghost story, with a flair for family drama. The story gives off a slightly claustrophobic vibe as you read along.... but I didn't find it particularly scary like the hype that surrounded it. It IS a good eerie read and definitely deserves to be included on your Fall TBR!
