I probably rated this book higher than I should have purely because I read the Six of Crows duology first and know where it's going. I read this quickly, enjoyed it. However it suffers from some problems I see in young adult fiction a lot. Things happen too quickly, are too convenient at times to move the plot along. The protagonist doesn't have much of a personality besides being in love with another character with no personality. It gets better towards the end, but really I liked the villain. I will read the next book in the series.
