Frank is shocked when his daughter Maggie decided to call him for the first time in three years. He was convinced that it would be permanent. He is even more surprised when she invites him to her upcoming wedding. Frank is so happy and finally wants to make things right between him and his daughter.
He figures out when he gets there that the wedding is at a private estate, secluded, luxurious, basically out of his league. Maggie however seemed to have left out one important detail, who she's marrying. His name Aiden Gardner, the son of the famous tech billionaire. Frank feels out of place, but his main focus is reconnecting with his daughter and getting to know her new family. However, it's becomes increasingly difficult: Aiden is withdrawn and evasive; Maggie doesn't seem to have time for him. He also finds the locals to be hostile to the Gardners. He needs to know more about this family that his daughter is marrying into, but if he pushes too hard, he could lose her forever.
I enjoyed this book, but it felt like it was unfinished. Frank also low key pissed me off, but he had his reasons for being crazy. I like his book Hidden Pictures a lot more than I liked this one. Hidden Pictures was creepier and just made your skin crawl a lot more than this one. I was hoping for a really good twist something to make this book really entertaining. This book needed something a bigger twist maybe something to keep us more entertained and on the edge of our seat. I think the little girl they had to bring to the wedding was my favourite character out of this entire book, I can't remember her name at the moment, but I liked her and she was cute. Most of the characters in this book are really unlikeable to be honest, and are just not my type of people. The Gardner family is so messed up, I don't know how they never got arrested for doing something sketchy in the first place.
I will say that the book starts off good and is entertaining for the first little bit, but then it sort of goes downhill from there. I was interested in the begging but then the way that Frank was acting kind of threw me off. Don't get me wrong his feeling are valid, but maybe he could have handled it a different way. I don't know. If you want to read one of Jason Rekulak books start with Hidden Pictures, because that's the other one of read by him and enjoyed a lot.
Also if you have read Hidden Pictures and you think that these books will be similar, don't get your hopes up too high. Happy Reading!!!!
