Love for Beginners by Jill Shalvis
5.0
Jill Shalvis was my first auto-buy author, and I give her credit for falling in love with the romance book genre when I was in college. I’ve read 32 of her books and loved every single one. When I had the opportunity to read her new book as a bookstagrammer, this was a dream come true!
Love for Beginners is my favorite book yet! I work in the medical and rehabilitation field as a speech-language pathologist. This story's plot revolves around Emma recovering from being hit by a car. I was invested in her journey instantly with my medical background and interest. Emma develops a strong connection with her physical therapist Simon. I appreciate Simon explaining how it is not ethical for a provider to date a patient because this book would have lost me if this was not addressed. Emma and Simon navigate their feelings throughout Emma’s recovery. Simon’s cousin Ali was one of my favorite side characters in this book. I also enjoyed Simon’s father and hearing about his recovery journey after his stroke.
This book had it all for me, and I was sad to see it end! The only thing that would have made it even better would be some speech therapy references throughout the book. My profession always seems to be the lesser-known for rehabilitation services, but I digress in my glowing review. I’ll get off my soapbox.
I highly recommend you get a copy of this book or listen to the great narrated audiobook!
