The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn

2.0

This story could have been handled so well; it was such a letdown. The beginning was very strong, with the love-hate and yearning. I was really enjoying myself, and then the author had to go and introduce so much toxicity in the second half.

I really liked both protagonists at first, but its like halfway through writing, the author abandons their personalities.
****SPOILERS****
Kate goes from being straightforward and confident to being a total pansy and weak willed. Anthony goes from being charming and sexy to being toxicly dominant and giving off ownership vibes with Kate.

It pains me to say this, but the Netflix adaptation was so much more superior than this crap. I felt like I was reading a high school girls love ramblings in the final few chapters. The only reason this gets 2 stars is because the start was honestly okay. This makes me very glad I didn't read the first novel and be assured that I will not continue this series.
