I absolutely adored this book, and if you are the sort of person who likes a quiet little character study I think this one will be perfect for you. Zorrie herself is quiet, and there aren't really any plot twists -- there's not much plot to speak of at all -- but I found her interior life interesting enough that I was never bored (she reminded me forcibly of my great aunt Geneva, so perhaps that is why I was so susceptible to this slim little novel's charms). I am always a little wary of books that romanticize White rural communities, but I overlooked it here because I enjoyed Zorrie's company so much.
