Savage Lover by Sophie Lark
4.75
I did not think I’d love this book as much as I did but I’m quickly beginning to realize that I would entrust my literature bliss in Ms. Ma’am Sophie’s loving hands.
Nero’s misogynistic views on women are what was gonna be the turn-off for me. I ended up loving him after he got with Camille cause he was so down bad I couldn’t stop myself but don’t think I’ve forgotten the fact that he still likely holds all those same beliefs about women as he did before 😒. The way he talked about women at the beginning of the book made me think of a man with access to a podcast mic posting clips of himself “destroying” women he invites to his show and all his opinions are based on the fact that he himself made the active choice to pursue one very specific type of women and it didn’t work out (shocker) so now he blames all women and makes it our problem. By the end of the book, I was kicking my feet at how he was treating and speaking to and about Camille and how he was threatening every left and right in her honour. I’m not examining what that means about me though 🤷🏽♀️🥰
I will say I feel the relationship was a little rushed. They went from disliking to fighting their attraction, to being in love very quickly. I think this feeling is due to the weeks long time jump from their first real encounter in their relationship to when the story continues. I’m not saying I need to know or see everything as it can get very tedious when too much detail is given where it’s not needed, but seeing a bit more of their development in that time would have been really nice.
