Simply the best "crime fiction" novel I've ever read, graphical or otherwise.
It boils down to:
1. Unique and Interesting characters
2. Well researched backdrop of 1920s Harlem,NY
3. Excellent plot

Sometimes funny, sometimes brutal but always interesting and never boring.
