“Suddenly, I can’t remember exactly why Mira told me to not fuck around outside my year group.” I put this book off for so long because of the hate on Tiktok for it and I’m mad I did. The author’s controversies aside, I think it’s a good book for people beginning to dive in to the fantasy genre, aka me. The writing is pretty simple, nothing intricate. There is development in and between the characters, though some may say it was a little fast. This is not an enemies to lovers, they both have feelings for each other very early on. Overall everything about it is just simple. Nothing complicated. And that’s not a bad thing because I do like this book. But the simplicity of it, is why I think so many experienced fantasy readers hated on it. Though I will say I’m not entirely sure why it was so hyped either. That being said I will continue the series as I enjoyed reading it.
