Cinda Williams Chima hits every single time. This was an incredible start to the series and I loved meeting all the new characters in this world. I was also glad to have read the seven realms series first as some details were important to know in this one. I thought the magic system was cool and I liked how we got into the action immediately. The changing POV's kept me guessing and I never knew what was coming next. The time jump also felt natural and I enjoyed the progression. Things felt resolved but also so unfinished which makes sense as it's only book one. I'm so excited to read book two and I am so here for the characters, the magic, and the action!
