Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman

💕Heartstopper - Books so sweet they’ll give you a cavity🍬
Is there a name for that feeling when you read a book that’s so damn good you want to immediately go make everyone else read it too? There should be, and whatever that feeling is, I’ve got it.
Now I often get this feeling about a horror book that has me sleeping with the lights on: The Troop or Summer of Night. Or from an author who’s writing style is pure genius: Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, or Fredrik Backman. Sometimes it’s because a story I didn’t even expect to enjoy becomes an instant favorite: Jurassic Park or Dune. But every now and then it’s because a story touches my heart, fills it with so much joy that I can’t keep the smile from my face as I turn the pages. That’s a rare and special story. I’m even more impressed that Alice Oseman has managed to pull it off with a graphic novel series.
Volume 1 starts off pretty simply: Boy meets boy. Boys become friends. Boys fall in love. Each subsequent volume follows Nick and Charlie as they navigate their relationship, but they also follow secondary characters and address some serious topics including bullying and mental health issues (anorexia and self-harm).
Each volume is an easy five stars for me, but the first and fourth are my favorites. I love the representation throughout the story. I love the open and honest way real life situations are presented. I love Nick and Charlie…they may take over the top spot for my favorite fictional couple.
This is a series I’ll reread for years to come, especially when I’m feeling down and need a boost.
