I’m at a job I hate bc the way certain people act is atrocious. My mother is in HR and I am familiar with general “1st impression” judgement. I wear a head scarf, I am a woman, I am “bossy”. I actually very much related to the FML outside our specific careers.
This book is a “silly little take” on a very big and real problem. If you read this book and role your eyes at the start of the book (first 10%) bc you don’t agree with the FML then you have a legit privilege in your career life. I was infuriated at the beginning of this book because I personally have experienced situations very similar if not almost identical to the ones that the FML deals with.
That said it is a “rom com” in the style of how everything cleanly lines up from the climax to the end but as a romance reader I prefer HEAs over the reality of life and how realistically she’d have been fired and high key jobless in a rough market for at least 3-6 months before working at another crappy company.
Anyways, I was emotionally invested by the main plot even though I do wish there was a bit more romance between the FML and her love interest.
