This book involves witch hunting as a plot element, so deals with normal procedures of that such as mentions of torture, dunking in water, and of burning people at the stake. One burning at the stake happens on-page, and is not very graphic (characters are dead before the fire reaches them) but some description is given to the smell of burning flesh.
