Finn and Layla. They are the happiest couple, young, in love and on vacation!everything is perfect or at least thats what it seems. After stopping at a service station to use the restroom Finn leaves Layla in the car. When he returns, Layla is no where to be found and seems to have just vanished. At least thats what he told the police.
Fast forward 10 years after Layla’s disappearance Finn is now engaged to her sister, Ellen. Their shared grief and shock over Layla’s disappearance drew them close together. Finn wants to believe Ellen is the one for him but he doesn’t love her the same way he loved Layla and something is not sitting right with him.
Months before their wedding, weird happenings begin to occur. Little signs that suggest Layla may not be gone after all but much closer than they think. Then Layla reaches out to Finn using an anonymous email.
Finn believes its a sinister trick that someone is playing on him, there are still some people out there that believe he had a hand in Layla disappearing. As the emails continue though, some things that the emails say makes Finn start to second guess that instinct and believe that Layla may actually be back.
On his hunt to get to the bottom of it he uncovers her past as well as Ellens and things dont seem to be adding up. Ellen and Layla may be more deranged than he thought. Then Ellen disappears too.
This was a super fast paced read with soap opera mentality! I enjoyed the mindlessness of it. Although I predicted the conclusion, the ending tied everything together quite nicely.
