‘A women’s lot is to suffer’.
I didn’t expect to cry. There was nothing initially that made me feel like I would finish this in tears. Yet here I am, crying and mourning. This was exceptionally written. The characters. The history. History I was so unaware of. I could not put this down. I understand why people felt like it was a bit rushed in the end, some characters came and went quickly but I think that added to the story. To the loss and hardships. I waited in a long library line for this book and it was so worth it.
