What fun! You should read this book in winter by a fire [I didn't, but I feel like you should].
My only qualm with this book is the writer's verbiage. It felt overly academic at times, and sometimes I struggle with footnotes. It wasn't necessarily overbearing, but sometimes it still seemed like a chore. Regardless, it was a minimal qualm, and overall I thoroughly enjoyed it! I did not feel one way or the other about the light romance in this either, so that was a little bit of a disappointment. With that said, Emily was a very interesting character that you likely don't read about too often, so I enjoyed a different perspective. I liked the combination of academia and fantasy/fae. There was also a dash of wittiness and humor that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Honestly, a lot of this good review was because we FINALLY have a heroine 30 years old. HOORAY!
All-in-all it was a good book, albeit, I was ready for it to conclude for some reason. It was a nice fluffy read and I recommend it for a light and different type of fantasy novel (although, there are still some gruesome elements to this novel, too!).
