The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
Did not finish book. Stopped at 35%.
The concept is intriguing but the writing is fairly flat. Perhaps the author didn’t want to get too dark by portraying mental health struggles in a realistic way? Although they did include suicide so, who knows. Instead of diving into the emotions of the protagonist, it feels like the plot of driven by surface-level events that don’t ring true to me. Maybe one day I’ll read it in a different mood and feel differently about it. It’s very popular so it could just be me.
Graphic: Suicidal thoughts, Suicide, and Suicide attempt
Moderate: Deadnaming
