Sisters' Entrance by Emtithal Mahmoud
5.0
I wish I had something eloquent to say in praise of this collection of poetry but it wouldn't do justice.
Sisters' entrance talks about the trauma and horror of war, genocide, violence against women, racism and islamophobia as well as the pride she has in the beauty of her country, her family, and her people in the most visceral and emotional way. Emtithal Mohmouad has the ability to make her point come across and make you empathise in so few words and fewer similies. Her observational descriptions are gut-wrenching and you can understand this person's strength and the battles shes been through.
