The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
5.0
» They never let you be famous and happy. I’m going to be the first. Swear it. Because you‘re the reason. «
this had me SOBBING. The end is just chef‘s kiss and the whole storyline itself. The more pages I turned the more I fell in love with both Patroclus and Achilles - Briseis too. I had already known much of the story die to my ancient greek class and what hurt even more: I could see the images of the movie we watched about Troy as I read: The fight against Hector was too vivid for me and I must admit- this book is the first to make me cry.
i would have wished for achilles to not have lost himself during the story tho - i don’t know if that‘s what happened in the original myth, I do bot remember much of it, but I did look forward to Patroclus actually being with someone (ahem ofc I mean Briseis).
amazing book.
