Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson
4.0
4.5 ⭐
Black Cake is one of those all-encompassing and rich narratives that leaves you both fully satisfied and yearning for more...all at the same time. It completely captivated me! There were a lot of important themes in this book, and they were woven into the story effortlessly. Another thing I felt worked really well for this particular book was the dual timelines. It brought everything full-circle and really allowed the reader to be fully immersed in both generations' experiences. I will admit that I especially loved the timeline of the past... there were so many layers, along with multiple characters, and the way everything was stitched together made for the richest reading experience. I fell hard for this gorgeous book!
