Man, this was so good. I'd have finished it quicker if it hadn't been for the holidays.

Mask of the Shadows is a YA fantasy novel featuring genderfluid Sal, an orphan who is competing to be the Queen's new assassin in the hope of killing those who abandoned their country.

I'm not sure why this book has so many bad reviews. The language isn't the most beautiful but it has an interesting plot and a great cast of characters. Sal made me so happy and I could relate to them in certain aspects which was such a relief.

As well as that the romance was cute and funny and the written deaths were interesting.

This is definitely a series to look out for.
