Die Parabel vom Sämann by Octavia E. Butler

5.0

Butler's book are always so atmospheric and manage to depict everyone's pain and sorrow perfectly without making the reader feel too uncomfortable.

This book also has great themes, was set in a realistic but horrific world and managed to make all the characters work. I even like the bit of romance it had.
Lauren was an interesting protagonist, being well aware of the world and was not blinded by false hope but still motivated by realistic dreams. Her view of religion, and the own religion she created, was fascinating.

I liked the diary format, only downside to it is that I felt I missed out on a lot of interesting aspects of this world. I would have liked to know more about the different gangs and how they worked and lived, since how Laurens brother described his time with one intrigued me.

However, this story is still great version of what is basically a dystopian wasteland and I highly recommend it.
