Vengeful by V.E. Schwab

dark mysterious tense fast-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated

I loved this one just as much as I loved book one. This was delightfully dark and I thought the world was just as interesting. The return of previous characters and the introduction of new ones kept the story going and I really liked the direction it took on. Victor and honestly some of the other characters are fully the definition of the anti-hero. The lines get so blurred between hero and villain and Schwab really makes it hard to decide who to root for. I thought the new abilities we saw here too were super cool and I like that we got more female energy this time around. Sydney had grown so much since book one and I really liked having more of her. This book just immediately pulled me in and I was on the edge of my seat multiple times, thanks to all the tension and thrill happening. Overall, I really enjoyed this installment and if Schwab decided to write another book in this world, I for one, would not be opposed.
