Unfortunately, this book wasn't quite what I hoped for. Daire's character seemed somewhat bland and emotionally detached, except when it came to his son. His lack of politeness towards everyone but Rosie didn't sit well with me. In the first half of the book, there was little chemistry between Daire and Rosie, and it felt like they were simply going through the motions of their lives. The second half focused mostly on caring for the baby. Around the midway point, I thought the story might improve when Daire showed some genuine emotion as a devoted dad to Sammy and gifted Rosie a Mrs. Hendricks jersey. However, this didn't last. As for Rosie, I found her character less compelling. Overall, the story felt slow-paced, and I found myself eager to reach the end.
