The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman

5.0

I loved this book! I can’t exactly say what about it touched my soul so much. Unlike other reviews I’ve read, I do not have a lot in common with the main character, Nina. There are two things we have in common, well 3: we both love books, we book enjoy planners (although I don’t live my life by what is in it like Nina), and we are close in age.

That didn’t stop me from loving her and all her quirks. As a person who doesn’t struggle with anxiety, I appreciated the picture this author painted. This book gave me a glimpse into what it would be like to have a panic attack.

And the romantic element! I adored the awkward realness of it. I especially loved the back and forth of the narrative.

I don’t write reviews often and you can clearly see why as I am not eloquent but this book just hit in all the right places. Most of the time I give books 3 stats - enjoyable but nothing unique. I wouldn’t say this is a unique tale however it touched me. I felt for Nina and her situation. She is so genuine and a different protagonist. The quirks throughout the story with the trivia facts and the awkward interactions all make this story so tangible. I. Just. Loved. It.
