A beautifully written book which was a joy to read. The author’s attention to historical detail amazes. The story emerges through a series of beautifully depicted cameos traversed by his main characters. One chapter describes the exploits of his hero and the next deals with the adventures of the adversaries who pursue him.
And so on etc. Right up to the denouement which is carried off handsomely. I really look forward to reading more of Miller’s work in the future.
