Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros

Okay… I loved most of this book! Truly even the beginning that some people found slow I enjoyed! However there are a few things that I just couldn’t get past and therefore I can’t give it 5 stars… I can’t give it three because I still really did enjoy this.

First of all the Violet and Xaden drama got old really quick! Her I can’t trust you and his I’ll answer any question you ask but won’t volunteer any info back and forth just… meh it ruined the story for me! Sure okay one time they have this argument and resolve it but they have it over and over and over again. It’s not resolved until like 70% into the book (guessing because honestly it took forever but I can’t remember exactly when). Basically my biggest issue is everything in this book took too long to get to the point or resolve. You could cut out a good 250 pages and it would have been a 5 star read!!

That’s said Tairn is the star of the show! Seriously his snark and one liners are perfection!! Andarna is portrayed as a sullen teenager and it works for a while, but again it just got old.

Then the elephant in the room… the ending?! I mean come on… I mean I guess they had to figure out how to push this into the 5-7 books they said it was going to be somehow, hahaha!

Anyways my issues may sound like I didn’t like it but that’s not the case I did. I just think it lost a little bit of the greatness the first book had because the author was trying to cater to a Maas audience. We already have an author like that, we needed her to stay true to who she was in the first book.
